PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer in which image information can be printed not to disturb appreciation without requiring any extra arrangement and that image information can be confirmed easily. SOLUTION: The printer prints a color image (region 41) on a sheet 40 by overlap printing of Y(yellow), M(magenta) and C(cyan) ink films, prints an overcoat layer (region 42) to cover the color image and then prints a print pattern 43, constituted of presence/absence of the overcoat layer, as image information (e.g. photographing date information) beneath the color image (region 41). Eventually, the print pattern 43 is read out based on the designation of a user and image information based on that print pattern 43 is acquired and outputted to an external apparatus, e.g. a TV monitor.
