PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To standardize water color measurement for preventing measurement error due to individual difference caused in water color measurement not by visually judging water color but by digitizing image data quantitatively sampled with a digital optical device 1 and obtaining color, comparing it with color data of standard water color set in advance and automatically judging the color with an operation micro-processor 21. SOLUTION: With the digital optical device 1 constituting a digital water color measuring system 50, quantitatively sampled image data is digitized and color data are obtained. These color data values and the color data of standard water color are compared and the most proper water color value is quantitatively judged with the operation micro-processor 21. In this manner, the measuring procedure of water color can be standardized and objectivity can be given to the results.
