PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and efficiently dismantle a steel tower and take appropriate fire protection measures at low cost. SOLUTION: To dismantle the steel tower 1 having an upper stage 3, an intermediate stage 4 and a lower stage 5, a roof sheet 11 for leading rainwater into a cylindrical tower 2 is stretched over the upper stage 3 and the intermediate stage 4 and the lower stage 5 are locked to the cylindrical tower 2 via a bolt type support means 15 and then separated from the cylinder tower 2. As a reed screen-like aerial wire metal fitting 15 is removed, the intermediate stage 4 and the lower stage 5 are raised and the upper stage 3 and the intermediate stage 4 are connected to each other via a reinforcing member 18 attached to the metal fitting 15. A working space 19 between the upper stage 3 and the intermediate stage 4 is surrounded by a sheet 20 and cured, and the intermediate stage 4 and the lower stage 5, together with the upper stage 3, are alternately lowered to dismantle the cylindrical tower 2 in the working space 19 and to convey the dismantled members.
