PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner whose sucking performance is good and which is convenient to use. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner has a cleaner body 2 incorporated with an electric blower 1 and an exhaust passage 7 for returning at least a part of the exhaust discharged from the bower 1. An exhaust discharging port 13 for communicating of air with the passage 7 within the cleaner body 2 is formed on the side of an upstream compared with the minimum passage area part (d) of the passage 7 within the cleaner body 2, and an opening/closing means 14 for opening/closing the port 13 alternatively is arranged.
