PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source system for an endoscope of inexpensive constitution which does not hinder operation even in stroboscopic photographing and permits photographing of videos suitable for observation, and the endoscope. SOLUTION: The light source system for the endoscope has one light source, a first light control member which is disposed on an optical path of light emitted from the light source and has at least one of a first opening and a light shielding region formed in the first opening, a second light control member which is disposed on the optical path of the light emitted from the light source and has a second opening and a control means for controlling the driving of the first light control member in such a manner that at least one first opening crosses the luminous flux in synchronizing with the frequency at a lesion vibrated at a prescribed frequency. The system is so constituted that the light emitted from the light source is intermittently emitted by passing of the first opening through the second opening.
