PURPOSE:To remove the ink contamination of a platen generated by the empty hitting of an ink jet head to a part where no recording medium is present. CONSTITUTION:An ink absorbing body 22 is brought into contact with the freely rotatable cylindrical platen 6 arranged in opposed relation to an ink jet head through a recording medium over printing width or more. When ink flies to a part where a recording medium 7 is absent to be bonded to the platen 6, the ink is rapidly absorbed in the ink absorbing body 22 by the rotation of the platen 6 to be removed from the platen 6. By this constitution, the adhesion of ink to the rear of succeeding recording paper or the components the apparatus is prevented. |
