PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing the quantity of rubbish by which starches which are hardly separated in a solid-liquid separation method are moved in an initial stage of rubbish processing. SOLUTION: This method for reducing the quantity of food rubbish comprises a stage for saccharifying the starches in the food rubbish to obtain the liquid which contains sugar and a stage for separating the liquid which contains the sugar from the food rubbish.
