PURPOSE: To provide a mowing machine which can improve operability, dustproof property and waterproof property and whose manufacture cost can be reduced. CONSTITUTION: When the rotation of the mowing machine is lowered, a brake means 24 is automatically operated to stop mowing blades. A clutch means 23 comprises a rotation member 41, clutch movement members 45, 45 which are moved in the radial direction and have tapered faces, a clutch drum 31 having a taper 43 along the tapered face 44, and a clutch elastic member for pulling the clutch movement members. The brake means 24 comprises a brake shoe 33, a brake pad 35 disposed on a housing 34, and a brake elastic member 36 for pressing the brake shoe 33. Thereby, when the rotation is lowered, the clutch movement members are separated as shown in the figure, thus pressing the brake shoe to the brake pad with the brake elastic member of the brake means. When the rotation is enhanced, the clutch drum is separated from the brake pad with the clutch movement members.
