PURPOSE: To form a glossy toner image by incorporating an optional device to an image forming device which cannot fix the glossy toner image conventionally. CONSTITUTION: This optional device for fixing U3 is coupled so that it can be coupled with/decoupled from the image forming device U1 where the toner image formed on the surface of a photoreceptor PR is transferred to a recording sheet and the toner image on the recording sheet is fixed by a fixing device F' in the image forming device U1, and then the recording sheet is ejected from a sheet ejection port Ka. Then, the device U3 has a 1st sheet carrying path SH6 having a sheet carrying port 2a and ejecting the recording sheet S carried in from the port 2a without making the sheet S pass through a belt type fixing device F, a 2nd sheet carrying path SH7 ejecting the sheet S after making it pass through the device F, and a fixing device F thermally fixing the toner image on the recording sheet carried through the path SH7.
