摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical compensation sheet whose viewing angle characteristics and coloring of the screen are improved and a reversal phenomenon of light and shade is recognized when seen from an oblique direction even with a single sheet, and further to provide a liquid crystal display device having the improved viewing angle. SOLUTION: The optical compensation sheet is characterized by having one layer where an angle between an optic axis of the liquid crystalline compound and by that the surface of the optical compensation sheet continuously or stepwise increases with respect to the thickness direction of the optical compensation sheet while having the other layer in which the angle continuously or stepwise decreases when the two layers are seen from the one side surface of the optical compensation sheet and further having the alignment directions of the liquid crystalline compound in the surfaces of the two layers intersect at 80-100 deg. angle.
