PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multifunctional telephone set and a control method for the multifunctional telephone set that can be connected to a desired server with a simple operation, attain a data transmission reception function as well as a speech function by the phone itself and impose charging on a user suitable for data transmission reception. SOLUTION: The multifunctional telephone set standardizes its own services and provides only a limited function in compliance with the operating environment to the utmost so as to establish a model where the usual fare settlement is based on charging by coins (of 100 yen and 500 yen). Then the charging timing is not set by each lapse of a prescribed time but made before start of an event. Since the multifunctional phone controls no charging during the performance of the event, the multifunctional phone can prevent occurrence of an accidental cause because the line is not released in unexpected timing.
