PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily identify a target file when files are electronically exchanged through a wide-area network such as the Internet. SOLUTION: The recording medium has a text data area where identification information for identifying the text data file is recorded and an identification number area where an identification number or identification code corresponding to the identification information is stored and can recognize the contents of the text data file having the corresponding identification information with the identification number or identification code. Thus, since the identification number or identification code for identifying the contents of the text data file is stored in the identification number area, when the text data file is searched for through the network, the specific text data file can speedily be identified without analyzing the contents of the text data file.
