PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery pack which is in a state of very low power consumption when detached from an equipment, and enabled to safely use by preventing the flow of big current caused by short-circuited output terminals. SOLUTION: The battery pack comprises a main switch 3 serially connected to a cell 1, a control circuit 4 controlling the connection and disconnection of the main switch 3, and a bypass discharge circuit 10 connected to the main switch in parallel. The bypass discharge circuit 10 has a protection element 12 restricting output current. The control circuit 4 keeps the main switch 3 in the state of off, when the pack is not connected to an equipment 9. When the pack is connected to the equipment 9, and a start signal is inputted from the equipment 9, the control circuit 4 switched the main switch 3 from the state of turned off to the state of turned on.
