PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a selected area out of a plurality of focus detection areas in optimum form on a finder image plane and a display outside a finder. SOLUTION: In order to display the position of the focus detection area selected from the plurality of focus detection areas, the plurality of focus detection areas are divided into a plurality of groups, display patterns FC, FL, FR, FT and FB are set for the respective groups, and the display pattern of the group in which the selected area is included is superimposed and displayed on a finder image in the case of the display on the finder image plane. Then, the display patterns PCH, PCL, PCR, PCV, PLH, PLV, PRH, PRV, PTH and PBH are set for the respective focus detection areas, and the display pattern of the selected area is displayed on the outside of the finder in the case of external display. Thus, detailed selected area information is provided to a photographer by the external display, and the photographer surely selects the desired focus detection area while viewing the external display. Furthermore, the display on the finder image plane is realized without making cost higher, and the position of the selected area is roughly visually confirmed by the display on the finder image plane at the time of photographing. |
