PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an opening and closing cover and each constituting member of a process cartridge from abutting to each other when the process cartridge is pulled out by opening the opening and closing cover. SOLUTION: In the device, the opening and closing cover 20 is made to move to and from a cartridge attaching part S by a slide rail 22. A finger that is put on a handle 132 is made to abut to a pull out restriction part 26 of the opening and closing cover 20 when the process cartridge C is pulled out from the cartridge attaching part S and in this state the cover is kept apart from a transfer roll 10, a carrying guide 21, a photosensitive drum 101 on the process cartridge side and other process means.
