Recombinant baculovirus-based insecticides

Isolated recombinant Plutella xylostella baculovirus for use as insecticides. Preferably, a recombinant baculovirus which has incorporated within its genome a gene encoding an insecticidal toxin. Also described are ligation vectors designed to introduce an insecticidal toxin gene into a Plutella xylostella baculovirus. Further described are insecticidal compositions and formulations comprising recombinant Plutella xylostella baculoviruses and methods for killing insect pests and for reducing insect infestation of crops.
