<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy character input method and device suitably usable for small computer applied equipment such as a cellular phone or the like. SOLUTION: In the cellular phone, for example, a 5×10 matrix-like basic character pallet BP is prepared, and a display window is displayed in a part of an input screen. A part of characters in the pallet BP is displayed in a 4×3 matrix shape in the window pallet WP in the window DW. The display in the pallet WP is scrolled in line or column unit according to the operation of a button for moving a cursor CS. When the display in the pallet WP extends out of the pallet BP, a scroll movement is performed so that the characters are circulated and displayed in line or column unit in the same scroll mode as when the same pallet as the pallet BP is arranged in the vertical and lateral directions of the pallet BP. The cursor CS is put on a desired character of the characters displayed in the pallet WP, and a selection button is pressed, whereby the character can be inputted.</p> |
