PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately perform the azimuth recording operation without introducing the deterioration of an S/N ratio. SOLUTION: The azimuth recording operation is performed with respect to a magnetic disk 10 by using a composite magnetic head 21 integrated with a 1st magnetic head 30 and a 2nd magnetic head 31 respectively having the different azimuth angles, through a magnetic shielding part 32. At this time, the track width of magnetic gaps for the 1st magnetic head 30 and the 2nd magnetic head 31 is formed to be larger than the track pitch of the recording tracks. Also, the recording/reproducing operation is carried out by alternately using the 1st magnetic head 30 and the 2nd magnetic head 31 with respect to the adjacent recording tracks.
