PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient image data retrieval device capable of reducing the input work by a user by properly designating an object image forming a retrieval key. SOLUTION: When a list window (a) for-listing images in an image database or a retrieval result window b for displaying a corresponding image as the result of an image retrieval, the image including a desired person is double- clicked. The double-clicked image is then magnified and displayed (c). When a mouse point is matched to the position of the face of the person projected therein and dragged, the peripheral pixels are analyzed to cut out a face image (A). The cut face image is dragged to the face input frame position of a key face forming the retrieval key, and dropped in the position of the face input frame. Accordingly, the retrieval key image can be easily designated.
