PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high nitrile-based copolymer latex coating material having an excellent coating film-forming performance, gas barrier property and ink-adhesion property, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: In this method for producing a high nitrile-based copolymer latex, a monomer mixture consisting of 70-96 mass % acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile, 3-15 mass % unsaturated dibasic carboxylic acid and 1-26 mass % >=1 kind of a vinyl-based monomer copolymerizable with the above compounds is subjected to and emulsion polymerization in the presence of a polyvinyl alcohol having 2-50 mPa.s viscosity and >=95.5 mol % saponification value. |
