PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a clock frequency to reduce electric power consumption in portable electronic equipment with a display device. SOLUTION: The portable electronic equipment has the detachable display device 11 and a microprocessor controlling the display of the display device 11. The electronic equipment detects by a display device attachment/detachment detection means 19 whether the display device 11 is connected to an electronic equipment body 20. When the display device 11 is not connected to the electronic equipment body 20, the clock frequency of the microprocessor is reduced, and the MPU skips the processing for the display.
