PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a program for recognized character correction which lighten the burden of correcting operation on an operator, shorten the correction time, and obtain a stable correction result of high reliability. SOLUTION: When the operator performs key input for correcting a dismissed character or misrecognized character as to a recognition result displayed on a monitor 4, a recognized character correction part 22 automatically corrects the dismissed image or misrecognized character according to the input result and the last correction history and then searches for the recognition result written to a hard disk 3; when features of the character image are similar, automatic correction is made with the current correction result and the correction history is stored in a correction history storage part 32. Further, the character image which is corrected by mistake through the automatic correction although the category is different since the features of the character image are similar is found in the correction history storage part 32 and corrected again into a correct character.
