PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved input method for the alphabet excellent in operability by adding a small number of specific keys in a sentence input performed by selecting an input word candidate by retrieval of a word dictionary from a plurality of inputted alphabetic lines. SOLUTION: In partial keys (132-139) of data keys, a plurality of alphabets is assigned redundantly to the same key, and in each of the other keys (131 and 141) of the data keys and partial keys (117, 119, 120, and 122) of control keys, only one of specific alphabets (A, S, U, E, I and O) of the alphabets assigned to the partial keys is assigned redundantly to the partial keys. Since a partial alphabet of an alphabet line is decided by performing an input from a key to which only the specified alphabet is assigned, word candidates can be narrowed to perform an efficient word input.
