PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Internet facsimile equipment that can generate proper image data correspondingly to a destination. SOLUTION: In the case that an original placed on a read section 14 has no prescribed size and the mode is the I-FAX mode, that is, data are Internet- faxed, white level data are attached to image data of a read original and the resulting data are converted into image data with a prescribed size. After the image data are coded by a CODEC 19, the coded data are stored in an image memory 18. On the other hand, when the original placed on the read section 14 has a prescribed size or the mode is a scan mode, that is, image data of the read original are transmitted to a personal computer 4 on a communication network even if the original has no prescribed size, after the CODEC 19 codes image data of the read original, the coded data are stored in the image memory 18. Thus, the Internet facsimile terminal can generate proper image data corresponding to the modem, that is, the destination.
