摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the diameter of shell openings and hereby reduction in the strength of a shell and facilitate the penetration of support pipes into the shell openings, to remove hereby restrictions on the size of a cooling plate in attaching the cooling plate to the inside of a blast furnace, and further to shorten the length of working hours required for replacement of the cooling plate. SOLUTION: In the blast furnace 12, the shell openings 7 to be formed in the shell 5 are provided in a direction nearly parallel to the direction of extension of the support pipes 8 provided to the cooling plate 2 which is set inside the shell 5. The cooling plate 2 can be set inside the blast furnace 12 by providing the support pipes 8 to the shell openings 7 in such a way that the pips 8 are inserted into the openings 7.
