PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup that suppresses power consumption, enables high-speed access, and increases a data transfer rate. SOLUTION: The optical pickup, for the purpose of reading/writing data on a single optical disk 8, has a plurality of optical heads (1A, 1B) each having a plurality of objective lenses 2 mounted, an optical switch 3 for electrooptically switching light beams entered on the objective lenses loaded on the plural optical heads, and a detecting optical system 50 for detecting return light beams from the optical disk to convert to electric signals. Desirably, the optical pickup is equipped, between the optical switch 3 and the objective lens 2, with a light deflector 9 electrooptically changing the direction of the light beam that is outputted from the optical switch 3 and directed to the objective lens. The light deflector 9 can be used for a tracking operation. |
