PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element with low driving voltage required and with high contrast. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element is characterized by being provided with a substrate, a liquid crystal layer arranged on the substrate and having a resin 11 including a liquid crystal 13 and an electrode to apply voltage to the liquid crystal layer, where the resin 11 is a copolymer formed out of a raw material containing at least one kind of monomer out of a first vinyl monomer of a main chain type or a side chain type with a short chain and a cross-inking monomer with a plurality of vinyl groups and a second vinyl monomer with a fluorine substituted alkyl chain 12 as a side chain or a second vinyl oligomer with a fluorine substituted alkyl chain 12 as a side chain.
