PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint for piping, having a structure such that when a retainer is locked in pseudo, the incomplete coupling state of a female joint member and a male joint member is clearly known and having good pressure resistant strength. SOLUTION: First ribs 58a, 58b have a first end edge part 60a at one end side, which is engaged with a spool part 20 of the male joint member 54 to inhibit the backward movement in the axial direction of the male joint member 54 when a retainer 56 is pushed in with the male joint member 54 completely inserted in the female joint member 52, and have a second end edge part 60b at the other end side. The first ribs 58a, 58b are formed inside the leg parts 23a, 23b of the retainer 56, and second ribs 62a, 62b are formed apart from the first end edge part of the first rib at least at a space corresponding to the width of the spool part 20. The second ribs abut on a pressing member 32 fitted in a passage of the female joint member for preventing separation of O-rings 31a, 31b in the female joint member to regulate the axial movement of the pressing member 32.
