PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a image binarizing device capable of properly binarizing even smeared images. SOLUTION: An input grey level image is divided into smear directions, and the presence or absence of the influence of smear is decided for each divided area, and the image density value is corrected for the area where it is decided that the influence of smear is present to that proper picture binarization can be realized.
