摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture high-strength raw-material pellets by using powdered raw materials and to prevent the disintegration and degradation of the raw- material pellets in using the pellets in a circular-hearth-type reducing furnace and further to properly reduce the raw-material pellets in the circular-hearth- type reducing furnace. SOLUTION: The raw materials discharged from raw-material stock bins 1 are mixed by means of a kneader 5 to manufacture the pellets by means of a pan-type pelletizer 7 by using fine-particle powder (the proportion of particles with a size of <=10μm is 20-80 mass%) containing oxidized metal and carbon. The pellets are classified in a pellet-screening device 9, dried in a pellet drier 11, and then fired and reduced in the circular-hearth-type reducing furnace 13. In the above process, the raw-material pellets are continuously conveyed under the condition that the disintegration of the pellets can be prevented. Further, equipment for attaining the above operating method is also provided.
