PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized, lightweight and inexpensive tactile display device. SOLUTION: The tactile display device which displays information of an image, etc., represented by unevenness by driving and controlling many tactile pins arranged in matrix so that they move up and down comprises a pin driving means which can perform up/down control over multiple tactile pins in many columns at the same time, a means for moving the pin driving means, row by row, and a tactile pin position holding means which holds the tactile pins positioned by the pin driving means by applying a proper frictional force.
