PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturizable and cheap transformer by omitting an inductor and a ballast capacitor in a cold cathode discharge tube driving circuit. SOLUTION: A transformer equipped with a core capable of being locally saturated, a d.c. power source arranged on the primary side of the transformer, a diode arranged between the d.c. power source and the transformer, a plurality of semiconductor switches constituted in push-pull to the transformer and a control circuit connected to the gates of the semiconductor switches are provided, and a discharge tube is connected to the secondary side of the transformer. |
