To produce blister packs, a number of recesses (11a) are formed in a continuous thermoplastic or aluminum carrier film (11), each to take an inserted product (44) to be shrouded by a covering film (25). The recesses are tested before the covering film is laid, by a test gas (22a) which fills an empty recess. A test unit (42) determines if the gas has escaped from the test recess.
