A sealing device for sealing a puncture in a blood vessel, the device being slidable over a guide tube and comprising a tubular housing, a resilient sealing member formed with a sealing portion spontaneously scalable upon deployment of the device into an operative state, an engaging portion for bearing against an external surface of the blood vessel and an anchoring assembly for engaging an internal surface of the blood vessel. The anchoring assembly comprises anchor members which are displaceable between a constricted position in which they blend with the tubular housing, and an operative position in which the anchors are laterally deployed to engage the internal surface of the blood vessel.
