A lithium secondary battery comprising an anode, a cathode and a nonaqueous electrolyte, the anode or the cathode being an electrode having on a current collector an active substance thin film occluding/releasing lithium, the active substance thin film being separated into columnar portions by a slit formed in the thickness direction thereof, the bottoms of the columnar portions acting as electrodes in close contact with the collector, characterized in that the nonaqueous electrolyte contains a mixed solvent consisting of at least two kinds of solvents, and mixed solvent comprises at least ethylene carbonate and/or vinylene carbonate as components.
