In the area of the table opposite long side edges extend two guides (13, 13') which support a slide or carriage type unit (14) forming part of the saw unit and which incorporates two separate side pieces (16, 16') rigidly connected to an upper cross piece (17). This form a U-shaped yoke and a lower cross piece (18) which on its underside supports one or more horizontal saw blades (26, 26') parallel with the table plane. The saw blades are vertically movable and adjustable in differing height positions relatively to the side pieces.
