The electric drive has the thermally sensitive system components of the drive cooled via a cooling medium (4) which can remove an overall heat quantity which is equal to, or greater than, the sum heat quantity of the heat generated by the electric drive components and the heat transferred to the drive from the extracted smoke gas via the drive housing, via melting or evaporation. The cooling medium can be contained between the walls of a double-skinned drive housing (3).
