METHOD OF JOINING THERMOPLASTICS PARTS

A method of joining two parts 146, 148 of thermoplastic material comprises placing a first of the parts 146 against the second part 148, the first part having a hole 150 exposing a surface 148B of the second part. A heating member 20 is inserted into the hole 150 to engage the surface 148B at least around the periphery of the hole. Heat and pressure are applied to the surface 148B to melt the plastics material of both parts 146, 148 at least in a region 152 around the periphery of the hole such that upon solidification of the melted plastics material the two parts are welded together.
