The invention relates to a method for filling large volume gas containers, in particular LTA aeronautical devices with a process gas, whereby the gas container (1) is first filled with an auxiliary gas, having a density greater than or less than the process gas, then the actual process gas for filling is introduced into the gas container (1), such that essentially no mixing with the auxiliary gas occurs. In the case where the process gas has a lower density than the auxiliary gas the process gas is introduced into the upper region (2) of the gas container (1) and the auxiliary gas, or a mixture of auxiliary gas and process gas is simultaneously bled from the lower region (18) of the gas container (1).; In the opposite case, where the process gas has higher density than the auxiliary gas, the process gas is introduced into the lower region (18) of the gas container (1) and the auxiliary gas or a mixture of the auxiliary gas and the process gas is simultaneously bled from the upper region (2) of the gas container (1). The process gas is stored in at least one pressurised gas reservoir (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) and/or in at least one low pressure storage device (43), such that a sufficient amount of process gas is available for a rapid filling of the gas container (1). The invention further relates to a method for cleaning and/or emptying large volume gas containers and a device, in particular for carrying out the above method. |
