PURPOSE: To provide an active matrix type display device in which the reliability of a light emitting element is improved by enabling the light emitting element to be manufactured on a flat substrate. CONSTITUTION: In an active matrix type organic EL(electroluminescent) display device which is constituted by laminating a circuit layer 32 which is constituted by arranging pixel circuits in a pixel unit and an element layer 38 which is constituted by arranging organic EL elements in the pixel uniton the circuit layer 32 with a flattening layer 34, a contact part 39 connecting the organic EL element and the pixel circuit electrically for every pixel is made to be formed by avoiding the light emitting region of each pixel of the element layer 38, that is, the region of an organic layer 37 including a light emitting layer. |
