PURPOSE: A power recovery device of a plasma display panel(PDP) and a driving method thereof are provided, which reduces an initial charging time of a source capacitor. CONSTITUTION: The power recovery device comprises a sustain voltage source to supply a sustain voltage to a scan/sustain electrode line and a common sustain electrode line, and recovers a voltage charged in a capacitive load formed between the scan/sustain electrode line and the common sustain electrode line and then charges the voltage to an external capacitor. The external capacitor is initially charged before the capacitive load is charged using the voltage supplied from the sustain voltage source. The power recovery device comprises an inductor to form the capacitive load and a resonance circuit by being installed between the capacitive load and the external capacitor, and the first and the second switch installed between the inductor and the external capacitor in parallel, and the third and the fourth switch installed between the inductor and the capacitive load in parallel. |
