PURPOSE: A continuously variable transmission containing high shift efficiency and durability is provided to efficiently select various modes by simplifying mode-selecting system and to improve durability. CONSTITUTION: A continuously variable transmission having durability and high shift efficiency comprises a first line transmitting power generated on an engine into a shift system; a second line transmitting the power into the shift system by passing through an input shaft(302) and a torque converter(100a); a controlling shaft(110) mounted on a shift controlling system(100); a pump housing(102) combined to the input shaft; a pump impeller integrally formed with the pump housing; a turbine(106) mounted corresponding to the pump impeller; a stator(108) installed between the pump impeller and the turbine; a fixing shaft(112) mounted on an inner portion of the stator by having a hollow shape; a unidirectional clutch(114) preventing back rotation of the stator by being arranged between the fixing shaft and the stator; and a lock-up clutch(116) mounted between the controlling shaft and the pump housing.
