PURPOSE: A method of converting a CIF(Common Intermediate Format) image into an NTSC image is provided to calculate weight of a previous line and a present line, and to output the calculated weight, thereby being suitable for a real-time system. The method is provided to pre-calculate a value of multiplying the weight, and to use a look-up table system, thereby reducing hardware. CONSTITUTION: A 1 line is stored in a line buffer for an input line(10). If a next line is inputted, a vertical interpolation(12) is performed. In the vertical interpolation, weight is multiplied and outputted to a previous line and a present line by considering correlations. The previous line and the present line are stored in the line buffer. By using a counter(14), an outputted line and a line outputted by multiplying the weight are distinguished. A multiplexer(16) multiplexes the distinguished lines. The number of multiplexed output lines(18) is converted to 240 from 288 of the input line. The 240 output lines horizontally have 353 pixels, respectively. A horizontal interpolation(20) for making 704 pixels is performed by horizontally expanding the 352 pixels into double.
