A piece of fusible material (3,4), coated with an adhesive (2) is placed on top of a first fabric piece (1). The non-adhesive side of the fusible material (3,4) is in contact with the face side of the fabric (1). The fusible material (3,4) is sewn (9) to the fabric (1) with stiches (9) defining the periphery of an unbroken design. The fusible material (3,4) is trimmed outside the periphery of the design. The fusible material (3,4) and the fabric (1) are trimmed inside the design creating an aperture (15). The fusible material (3,4) is pulled through the aperture (15) with the adhesive (2) interposed between the fusible material (3,4) and the reverse side of the fabric (1). The fusible material (3,4) is fused to the reverse side of the fabric (1). A second piece of fabric (19) is placed on the reverse side of the first fabric (1) to cover the aperture (15). The second fabric (19) is sewn (17) to the first fabric (1), creating a design that appears to float in the first fabric (1). |
