METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CHOLESTERIC LIQUID CRYSTAL COLOR FILTER

PURPOSE: To provide a method for manufacturing a cholesteric liquid crystal color filter excellent in resolution with color discrimination. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal layer 14 consisting of a cholesteric liquid crystal composition including at least a liquid crystal compound, a photo-reactive chiral agent and a polymerization initiator is formed. A part corresponding to a contour part of a pixel is exposed with masking by an ultraviolet ray with a wavelength photoactivating the polymerization initiator before or after formation of the pixel on the liquid crystal layer 14 so as to form a partition wall 18 on the contour part of the pixel. For the purpose of forming the partition wall 18 the contour part of the pixel is fixed with polymerization caused by the ultraviolet ray irradiation using a mask having an opening part in the region corresponding to the contour part of the pixel.
