<p>The optical system comprises a transmission lens and a reception lens. The lenses each comprise a spherical cap (1,2) for focusing, situated on either side (1P, 2P) of a plane support (3). The optical system comprises a transmission lens for projecting a light beam on to an object, and a reception lens for projecting the reflected light back to a detector. The transmission and reception lenses each comprise a spherical cap (1,2) for focusing, situated on either side (1P, 2P) of a plane support (3). The plane support serves to ensure the optical separation of the transmission and reception channels. The lenses may be situated within a cylindrical ferrule (9), with the height of the spherical caps being approximately equal to half the diameter of the ferrule.
