LOCAL OSCILLATOR USING NON-RADIATIVE DIELECTRIC WAVEGUIDE

PURPOSE: A local oscillator is provided to obtain stabilized power and frequency characteristics of oscillation signal by maintaining temperature of Gunn diode stable. CONSTITUTION: A local oscillator comprises a Gunn diode(101) for receiving a bias voltage and outputting an oscillation signal of millimeter wave; a resonant member for adjusting and transmitting power and frequency of the oscillation signal; a non-radiative dielectric guide(108) for transmitting the oscillation signal which is input to an input end, to an output end(110) and generating an oscillation signal of millimeter wave; and an LSE mode suppressor(104) inserted into the input end of the NRD guide, and which permits passage of LSM mode of the oscillation signal transmitted from the resonant member and suppresses passage of LSE mode. The Gunn diode is buried in a vertical direction into a coupling hole formed at the bottom of a lower conductor plate(111a), such that the heat generated from the Gunn diode is directly transferred to the lower conductor plate.
