PURPOSE: A special character selecting method of a mobile communication terminal is provided to allow a user to effectively select European alphabets by reduced number of key manipulations by attaching a serial number to a selectable European alphabets and displaying it on a separate screen. CONSTITUTION: A controller checks whether an edit mode is selected through a key input unit(S10). If a user inputs a specific alphabet(S11), the controller checks whether a mode shift key has been inputted(S12). When the user selects a mode shift key, the controller checks whether the specific alphabet can be converted into an European character(S13). An European alphabet suitable to the current alphabet is displayed on a pop-up window(S14). The controller checks whether a select key of the specific European alphabet is inputted(S15). The user can substitute the former alphabet with the corresponding European alphabet by depressing a pertinent key(S16).
