A unilateral light emitting device is disclosed comprising a semiconductor body and a reflecting element. The semiconductor body emits radiation from all its surfaces. The emitted light is gathered in a single beam after redirection by a reflecting element. The reflecting element redirects the emitted light alongside the semiconductor body.
