Suction device for automatic packaging machine

The suction device (10) is used for handling foil packaging containers and has at least one suction head (11) with a suction line (12), fitted with a suction cup (13) for the packaging container at its free end. The suction cup has an inner pipe (14) which can move between two positions through peg (17) upon contact of the suction head with the transported packaging container and upon release of the latter. Its position is indicated by a proximity sensor (25) coupled to a control. The inner pipe may be made of metal for cooperating with an electromagnetic proximity sensor.
